Inspired by Renaissance icons, I took this Madonna and Child stamp and framed it within layers of colourful and abstract texture. This piece uses stamps, antique ephemera and block-printed Indian papers, as well as shreds of fabric and flecks of imitation copper leaf. Lines and zigzags of stitch are interspersed amongst smudges of ink and acrylic on carefully cut and positioned papers.
